The Adventure Begins

I am starting a journey into sharing all the glimpses of Grace I’ve seen. God’s fingerprints. They have always been apparent if I look. Am I looking? Will I look?

Oh! The journeys God takes us on.

When God takes me on a trip, I rarely know where we are going. Usually He has everything planned, packed and in the car before I realize we are even underway.

It’s better that way.  If I knew where we were going I would panic, spend three hours deciding which clothes to bring, look up the weather, shopping, tourism, maybe some restaurants and a whole slew of other things. We would arrive and I would know where to see the world’s largest ball of string, but not have even seen the scenery on the way. When God plans a trip I’m constantly wondering where we’re going and examining the scenery for clues. On His journey I see. The special moments make me smile and we make memories.

This blog is my current journey. I am sitting down to start another process to actually publish. So far in five minutes I have had as many interruptions; boys eating lunch talking with their mouths full, a sales call, a compliment on my computer, my own distracted mind just looking at another detail that doesn’t really matter and a phone call from work about coming in. One would think this was just a crazy few minutes especially since it is quiet now, but I can tell you that I have been trying to finish this for two weeks and every time I start it is the same.

God is taking me on a journey from “I can’t, I’m not good enough, I’m not the right one.” To “I choose to trust you. I choose to trust that you know how inept I am. I choose to step forward in obedience”

Interruption 6: Son is checking to make sure that I did, indeed, ask him to play outside even though it was sunny.

God calls me back. Focus.

Look at the pictures we’ve taken. Remember each time I called you to write and you said “no”? You didn’t see it then — you missed that bit of the scenery there. See how your heart was afraid? Look how much it’s changed. Look how much more you trust me now. Aren’t you glad we had that moment?

And I do. I see how I couldn’t even look at Him in that moment. I was so afraid and uncertain.

Seeing the wondrous scenery at the beginning of this journey, my mindset has changed from needing a destination, to enjoying the freedom of the mystery. When God plans our journeys he means to make memories and deepen the relationship. He knows that too much knowledge gets in the way of trust.

So I invite you on this road trip with me
